How to Stand Out and be Successful in Testing
- Do you want to be successful in your career?
- Do you want to be noticed for the good things you do?
- Do you have a concern for quality?
- Do you want to make a difference?
If you can answer “Yes” to the above questions, then simply book yourself onto this tutorial and gain an understanding on how to become successful by learning from your experiences and using some of the key testing skills available to you.
To start with Clive will explore how we should regard and deal with any failures we come across. If they are managed carefully, they should be regarded as a stepping stone to take us on the journey to success in our workplace and life. We have often been brought up since school to think of failure as a bad thing, and that concept remains in many organisations and in the mind-set of senior management. To counter this, we should have different ways of working in our organisations that re-maps that mind-set and demonstrates how we really view and cope with failures.
We need to change and see failure in a positive light and be open to an approach of learning not only from ourselves but also our colleagues. Clive will take you through some examples of learning lessons from sport, music, world record holders and others so that you can think about how to translate them into activities within your own workplaces.
Once the above concepts have been covered, Clive will explain how we can then follow on and use some of our key testing skills to better address the work we need to do in testing applications and systems in preparation for release. Clive will cover off those topics in a practical way that can in his view bring the quickest return on investment i.e. Risk, Reviews, Retrospectives and Techniques.
The day will be a mix of presentation, discussions and lively practical sessions.
